Engineering Depot.

The Cwmafan Engineering works,  ( 900 feet long and 45 feet wide ) Generally known as ( The Depot ), was built in 1846, at this works there were 50, smithy fires together with a large variety of machines, highly skilled  and specialistic mechanics were employed in the manufacture of all types of  steel appliances and tools for home and foreign markets, it is said that every trade could be learned at cwmafan,  and craftsmen employed at the depot and other factories in the village were in great demand for executive positions elsewhere.

In 1854 a bath house was opened at the depot, it was available to workers at a small charge, children were allowed its use at set times,

After 1860, mechanics introduced  the game of cricket at cwmafan.
